KEYNOTE SPEAKER Dr. Aliya is a mom, a wife, a doctor, and entrepreneur who was called to her profession from personal experience. Diagnosed at 23 with PCOS and told she'd never have children, she discovered chiropractic and functional medicine, and they changed her life! In 2010 she co-founded one of the largest wellness centers in North Carolina and continues to expand practice to help more and more people achieve health, naturally. As a lifelong learner, she holds certifications in chiropractic for pregnancy and pediatrics, acupuncture, dry needling and has received over 1000+ hours of functional medicine and nutrition education with The Institute for Functional Medicine, Apex Energetics, Biotics Research, and more. Dr. Aliya is a local and international speaker on health and wellness for both small groups and large corporations. She has served professional boards, mentored business start-ups, and is an active member of the Cary-Kildaire Rotary group. Jess Ekstrom is the founder of Headbands of Hope, a company she started as a junior in college in 2012. For every headband sold, a headband is given to a child with cancer. Her first brush with success was selling all of her toys on eBay when she was twelve. Since then, Jess and her company have been featured on Today and Good Morning America and in Seventeen, Vanity Fair, Forbes, and People. More importantly, they have donated millions of headbands reaching every children?s hospital in the United States and in 22 countries. Jess is also a professional speaker and founder of Mic Drop Workshop, an education company with the mission of empowering more women to share their message as a speaker. She?s the bestselling author of Chasing the Bright Side and Create Your Bright Ideas. Her hobbies include writing, hiking, board games with her husband, playing with her dog, and searching for the best breakfast burrito in America.
Breakout Session #1 Taking Control of Your Health
Gloria O'Connor, 200 CYT, M.Ed, has taught yoga for more than ten years, completing her teacher training in 2013 at One Heart Yoga in Fuquay Varina. She currently teaches Gentle yoga at Serasana Spa in Holly Springs. She has experience teaching Hatha, Restorative, Gentle, and Chair Yoga. She loves yoga because it is more than just a physical practice. It is a way of life that incorporates mindfulness, self-awareness, and compassion for oneself and others. Yoga teaches us to be present in the moment, to connect with our breath and body, and to cultivate a sense of inner peace and calm.
Breakout Session #3 - The Truth About Women's Mental Health
Dr. Krempasky originally hails from Whitwell, a one stop light town in rural Tennessee. She graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA and then returned to Tennessee to attend medical school at East Tennessee State University?s Quillen College of Medicine. She completed her Psychiatry Residency and served as Chief Resident at Dartmouth- Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
In her current role as Chief Medical Officer for Behavioral Health at WakeMed Health and Hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Krempasky leads the charge to build a continuum of behavioral health care to support a healthier community. She has a deep understanding of the role psychological stress can play in chronic disease states and is passionate about relieving the suffering that results from untreated and undertreated mental illness.
Before coming to WakeMed, Dr. Krempasky served as the Senior Patient Safety Officer for Mission Health System based in Asheville, NC. In this role, she engaged key physicians as well as other clinical leaders to foster an environment of clinical excellence and a culture of safety across the 800+ bed system.
While she is notorious early bird and can often be found filling inboxes with coffee-fueled emails in the wee hours of the morning, Dr. Krempasky tries to maintain at least some work/life balance. She is an avid believer in the healing power of nature and can often be found with her husband and 2 daughters hiking up a mountain, paddle boarding through a river or driving across country in the family camper.

Dr Estelle Tsalik is a wellness consultant and the founder of Living Well with Estelle. She uses her expertise as a doctor of physical therapy and a certified nutrition coach to help women be more proactive about their health.
When she's not working with clients, she devotes her time as an inpatient physical therapist at Duke. Dr Tsalik loves sharing tips and strategies on how to create optimal whole-body wellness in all aspects of your life.
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, she has called North Carolina home since 2005. She?s a former professional dancer, a mom of three and wife to a physician-scientist who specializes in infectious disease diagnostics. In her spare time, you can find her cheering on her local NC Courage NWSL team or quietly belting showtunes at DPAC.
